Cleaning

Making sure our services are clean

Current Welsh Government guidance is to Keep Wales Safe and travel only if your journey’s essential.

Please use public transport if it’s your only option for essential travel and don’t make unnecessary journeys or travel if you have any coronavirus symptoms.

We’re working hard:

  • so key workers can travel to and from work
  • so you can make essential journeys such as for essential shopping or medical needs
  • to keep staff safe

Wear a face covering

You must wear a face covering on public transport to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus to other travellers and staff unless you’re exempt. Please bring a face covering with you and put it on before entering our stations or getting on your bus or train.

The Welsh Government recommends wearing a 3-layer face covering because physical distancing can be difficult to achieve on public transport.

Children under the age of 11, people with breathing difficulties or people with a physical or mental illness or impairment or disability don’t have to wear a face covering.  Children over the age of 11 must wear a face covering unless they’re disabled or suffer from breathing difficulties.

The Welsh government's full list of exceptions can be found here

Extra cleaning on our buses, trains and at stations

Our buses, trains and stations are being thoroughly cleaned in line with government guidelines, including anywhere passengers may touch regularly.

We’re working around the clock to ensure you can travel safely and with confidence on public transport if you’re a key worker or you need to make an essential journey and public transport is your only option.

Buses

All bus operators across Wales have strict cleaning measures in place, including safety measures to keep all drivers on the network as safe as possible in line with Welsh Government guidance.

Trains

We’re cleaning our trains thoroughly and more frequently.  Our cleaning teams are working day and night to clean our trains and we’ve employed more cleaners to keep them clean.

We’re focusing on heavily used areas such as armrests, handrails and tabletops. We’re also making sure our toilets are well stocked with soap.

We’re using an anti-viral cleaning product with a 7-day protection period, which is the best product currently available.

Stations

We’re also increasing cleaning at our stations and particularly focusing on heavily used areas such as handrails and ticket machines.  We’re also making sure our toilets are well stocked with soap.
We’re using an anti-viral cleaning product with a 7-day protection period, which is the best product currently available.

Help us - please wash your hands or use hand sanitiser regularly

We’re doing extra cleaning so you can make essential journeys as safely as possible.
Please help us by:

  • washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds or using hand sanitiser regularly.
  • Bringing your own hand sanitiser if you can.
