Due to predicted flooding between Machynlleth (MCN) and Aberystwyth (AYW):

Services will be cancelled in both directions between Machynlleth (MCN) and Aberystwyth (AYW).

We expect the incident to last until 00:30 on 30/09/2026 and disruption to services is expected from 21:30 until 00:30 on 30/09/2026.

What's Happened?

Due to predicted flooding, services will not be able to run between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth. The following services will be disrupted:

20:08 Birmingham International to Aberystwyth will terminate at Machynlleth.

20:32 Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth will terminate at Machynlleth.

22:27 Aberystwyth to Machynlleth will be Cancelled.

23:39 Aberystwyth to Machynlleth will be Cancelled.

Alternative Travel Options

We have organised the following buses to assist customers to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost. These will all be provided by Lloyds.

21:50 Machynlleth all stations to Aberystwyth. This rail replacement will meet the incoming 20:32 Shrewsbury service to maintain customer connections.

22:27 Aberystwyth all stations to Machynlleth.

23:03 Machynlleth all stations to Aberystwyth. This rail replacement will meet the incoming 20:08 Birmingham International service to maintain customer connections.

23:39 Aberystwyth all stations to Machynlleth.

These arrangements are in place on services until 00:30.

Road Transport will take longer than rail services. Please allow extra time to complete your journey.

What's Happened?

We apologise for temporary disruption on the route between Cardiff Bay and Pontypridd.

If travelling from stations between Pontypridd and Cathays, please change at Cardiff Queen Street for services to Cardiff Bay.

Customers can use local bus services between Pontypridd and Cardiff to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost between Tuesday 29th September - Saturday 3rd October:

• 24 and 25 Cardiff Bus services.
• 132 Stagecoach

We have organised buses to run between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth to assist customers to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost.

The Welshpool to Aberystwyth service will arrive at Welshpool at approximately 06:48 provided by Lloyds Coaches.

The Aberystwyth to Shrewsbury service will arrive at Machynlleth at approximately 09:06 provided by Lloyds Coaches. Please note, due to a road traffic accident, this rail replacement service can no longer call at Aberystwyth, Bow Street, Borth or Dovey Junction. Passengers are advised to catcheh the next available train service.
