Due to animals on the railway between Swansea (SWA) and Shrewsbury (SHR):
We expect the incident to last until 08:35 on 04/04/2026 and disruption to services is expected from 04:50 on 04/04/2026 until 08:35 on 04/04/2026.
We have been made aware of an incident involving animals on the railway near Ffairfach.
As a result, the 04:50 departure from Swansea to Shrewsbury via the Heart of Wales will now start at Llandrindod, and the 05:54 departure from Shrewsbury to Swansea via the Heart of Wales will terminate at Llandrindod.
Our services between Swansea and Shrewsbury via the Heart of Wales are disrupted in both directions.
We expect the incident to be cleared by 08:35. Train services will be disrupted until 08:35.
Alternative Travel Options:
We have organised buses to run between Swansea and Llandrindod in both directions to assist customers to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost. These will arrive at
- Swansea at approximately 04:50 provided by AC Jenkins, calling all stops to Llandrindod.
- Llandrindod at approximately 07:29 provided by AC Jenkins, calling all stops to Swansea.
These arrangements are in place on services until 07:29.
Road Transport will take longer than rail services. Please allow extra time to complete your journey.

Passengers intending to travel on the booked 04:50 Swansea to Llandrindod bus are advised there will be no onward travel from Llandrindod to Shrewsbury and will have to wait for the next available train service.
Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on Transport for Wales 05:39 Swansea to Manchester Piccadilly service which calls at Craven Arms, Church Stretton and Shrewsbury.
If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.
