Due to a fault on a train between Shrewsbury (SHR) and Aberystwyth (AYW):
Services will be cancelled in both directions between Shrewsbury (SHR) and Aberystwyth (AYW).
We expect the incident to last until 21:00 and disruption to services is expected from 21:00 until 23:00 on 28/08/2026.
What's Happened?
Due to a fault on a train, the following services have been cancelled:
- 20:32 Service from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth
- 22:27 Service from Aberystwyth to Machynlleth

Bus Rail Replacement:
We have organised buses to assist customers in completing their journey at no extra cost. These will depart at the times and locations below:
- 21:50 from Machynlleth, calling all stops to Aberystwyth. These will be provided by Lloyds
- 22:27 from Aberystwyth, calling all stops to Machynlleth. These will be provided by Lloyds
Road Transport will take longer than rail services. Please allow extra time to complete your journey.

Due to a shortage of train crew between Swansea (SWA) and Shrewsbury (SHR):
Services will be cancelled in both directions between Swansea (SWA) and Shrewsbury (SHR).
We expect the incident to last until 22:00 on 28/08/2026 and disruption to services is expected from 17:47 on 28/08/2026 until the end of the day.
Alternative Travel Options:
We have organised buses to run between Swansea and Shrewsbury to assist customers to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost. These will arrive at Swansea at approximately 17:47 provided by Gower. Replacement road transport will also be arriving into Llandrindod at 20:07 provided by Francis.
These arrangements are in place on services 22:00.
