Due to a broken down train at Warrington Bank Quay (WBQ):
Services may be delayed by up to 30 minutes.
We expect the incident to last until 21:00 and disruption to services is expected from 19:30 until 22:00.
What's Happened?
A freight train has broken down at Warrington Bank Quay meaning services in the area are subject to disruption and may be delayed or revised.
The freight train has now been moved and is clear of Warrington Bank Quay Station so some services are able to run with delays through the area. We will publish more information here, once we have received an update from Network Rail.
Services on our Chester to Manchester Airport route are affected in both directions. Services towards Chester are now able to run with a delay, however, services towards Manchester Piccadilly/Manchester Airport are still unable to run. We expect the incident to be cleared by 21:00. Train services may be delayed through the area by approximately 60 minutes until 23:00.
Passengers travelling from Chester to Manchester Piccadilly/Manchester Airport may travel via Crewe to reach Manchester.
For passengers travelling from Chester for stations on the route towards Manchester Piccadilly, we are currently sourcing replacement road transport and will provide an update soon.
Please note, other routes and operators are affected by this disruption. Please check your journey at tfw.wales.
Please check back here for more information shortly. We apologise for the disruption caused to your journey.
