Services may be cancelled in both directions between Machynlleth (MCN) and Pwllheli (PWL).

We expect the incident to last until 16:00 and disruption to services is expected until 16:00.

What's Happened?

We have been made aware of an issue with the track between Harlech and Barmouth.

For safety, train services are currently unable to run through the area.

Our colleagues at Network Rail are aware and staff are currently working to resolve the issue.

We will publish more information here, once we have received an update from Network Rail.

We are currently sourcing rail replacement. Please check back later.

Alternative Travel Options:

Customers can use local bus services to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost:

T2 between Machynlleth and Bangor with Traws Cymru

T3 between Barmouth and Dolgellau

G21 between Machynlleth and Dolgellau

G23 between Barmouth and Minffordd

Customers travelling on T2 Traws Cymru buses to Bangor can connect with Transport for Wales rail services from Bangor to Birmimgham via Shrewsbury at no extra cost.

These arrangements are in place on services until 18:00.

Road Rail Replacement

We are also sourcing rail replacement for cancelled rail services.

The 12:51 Machynlleth to Pwllheli services will be provided by Lloyds Coaches.

The 13:38 Pwllheli to Machynlleth service will be provided by Clynnog and Lloyds Coaches. Please note this rail replacement service is not expected to depart Pwllheli until approximately 14:20.

Road Transport will take longer than rail services. Please allow extra time to complete your journey.

We regret that due to issues with air conditioning on our older fleets, Transport for Wales services will not run between Shrewsbury and Birmingham International. You may use your ticket on West Midlands Railway services at no extra cost.

Approximate journey times are 15 minutes Llandundo to Llandudno Junction and 80 minutes Llandundo Junction to Blaenau Ffestiniog.
